A rum saga in San Andrés y Sauces
At Trapiche El Melonar, you can learn about the history of sugar cane, the so-called sugar families, and sugar cane in La Palma. You can also see how they respect the original recipe by distilling the juice from freshly pressed cane directly in a copper still over a fire.
A tasty morning of tasting
To cater to everyone, they offer a video and multilingual guides that detail the production process throughout the tour of the distillery. From the planting of the sugar cane, through the press and, of course, the essential still, at the end of the tour you can taste their rums or buy them in the adjoining museum shop if you need to take the car. The visit must be booked on their website and costs five euros per person plus tasting. Accessibility for people with reduced mobility is only available for part of the visit.
