Hello, lovers of nature and the good life! From Hostal Bubango, your haven in San Andrés y Sauces, we want to invite you to lace up your boots and explore the treasures hidden in our municipality.

The Star Route: Nacientes de Marcos y Cordero

If there is one route you cannot miss, it is the Nacientes de Marcos y Cordero. It is, quite simply, a magical immersion in the heart of the laurisilva (laurel forest), where water is the main protagonist.

The route passes through a dozen tunnels excavated into the rock, following the course of a channel that captures water from the springs. Crossing these galleries, with the constant sound of water, is a unique and refreshing experience. After the tunnels, the path transforms into a spectacular descent through the Barranco del Agua (Water Ravine) until you reach the fascinating Bosque de Los Tilos (Los Tilos Forest), one of the jewels of the Biosphere Reserve. It is a walk through a genuine prehistoric forest!

Pay attention to this: The “classic” route begins at Casa del Monte (access by taxi/arranged transport) and descends to Los Tilos, avoiding the long uphill walk. Ask at reception, and we will help you organize the transport.

Recommendations Before Setting Out

This route is of medium-high difficulty and requires good planning. Here are our essential tips:

Light and Water: A headlamp is essential for the tunnels. Although the water is very tempting, bring your own drinking water and some food.

Equipment: A good raincoat or waterproof jacket is fundamental—Tunnel 12 will give you a watery surprise! Dress in layers and wear sturdy, waterproof hiking boots.

Hours: Access to Casa del Monte has limited hours (usually until 2:00 PM in summer and 12:30 PM in winter). It is crucial to start early, ideally with the first taxi, to avoid rushing.

Caution: This is a trail with some narrow sections and wet passages. It is not recommended to do the route on very rainy days or if it has rained heavily beforehand, as the water flow in the tunnels and the ravine increases.

Other Wonders of San Andrés y Sauces

If you are looking for more accessible options, San Andrés y Sauces offers other trails:

Bosque de Los Tilos (Short): If you only want the essence, the short trail to the Cascada de Los Tilos (Los Tilos Waterfall) and the Visitor Center is perfect for the whole family.

Ruta del Cubo de la Galga (Cubo de la Galga Route): A circular and slightly shorter trail that allows you to enter another beautiful corner of the laurel forest.

Ask us at Hostal Bubango, and we will give you detailed information to make your adventure perfect.
